Nail studio · Kettering, Ohio

Short, rounded and plain, for hands that work.

Elton Woodson and Ngan Thieu keep nails short and tidy for nurses, cooks, mechanics and anyone whose hands are in the work all day.

The Squoval way

Short, rounded and plain

Three things we do to every set of nails, because they suit a working day.

Deep-skinned hands with short berry-colored nails

Short

Nails cut back to the fingertip stay clear of a keyboard, a pan or a wrench. We shape the tip so nothing catches.

Rounded

A squoval is a soft square with rounded corners. It does not snag on a glove or a sleeve the way a sharp corner can.

Plain

A clear or sheer finish is quiet at work and easy to keep tidy. Color is there if you want it.

If your job means gloves

Tell us what is on your hands all day

Nitrile in the kitchen, latex on the ward, work gloves in the shop. We plan the length and the edge around them.

Hands that are washed and gloved all shift are hard on nails. We will tell you plainly what suits your work and what does not, and we plan removal and rebalance visits around your schedule.

  • Short length, rounded corners

  • Clear or sheer finish by default

  • Visits planned around your shifts

  • Elton Woodson, owner and lead technician, in a white tunic at a counter with amber bottles and a jar of brushes

    Elton Woodson

    Owner and lead technician

    • Manicurist license · OH Lic. # 000000

Elton opened Squoval after years of doing hands for people whose work is hard on them: nurses, cooks, mechanics. He does natural-nail manicures and builder-gel overlays, and he will tell you plainly when your nails would do better with a plain trim.

  • Ngan Thieu in a navy blouse at her manicure table, with a hand rest and a tray of brushes beside her

    Ngan Thieu

    Technician, gel and removal

    • Manicurist license · OH Lic. # 000000

Ngan does gel manicures, overlays and removals, and she is the one to book if you have gel or an overlay to come off. She takes her time, and she is gentle with nails that have been through a long season of gloves.

Questions

What people ask first

Can I come before my shift?

Yes. We open at 7 a.m. Tuesday to Friday, and appointments start then.

Do you do long nails?

We keep nails short and rounded, which is what the studio is for. Tell us your length and we will say what we would do.

What is builder gel?

A protective layer over your natural nails, shaped and cured under the lamp. We keep it short and sheer unless you want color.

What if my nails were done somewhere else?

Book removal first, so we have time to take it off gently. Please do not pull it off yourself.

Is there a deposit?

No. We ask only that you tell us if you cannot make your time.
